When your best buddy (dog) eats Grass, seeing him eating that, you might be amazed. For sure, he isn't a Cow or Goat. So, why he is eating grass? Being a parent you might be worried also about his/her health. You also got a thought, Is he sick? or hungry? or something else. First of all, be assured not you are the only facing this condition. Especially, if your dog is vomiting after eating grass.
Disorder of eating things which are not food is known by the technical term Pica. It indicates that your dog has some nutritional deficiency. If it is practiced by younger dogs and puppies, it can be a sign of boredom.

Eating grass by dogs is quite common. It may be completely natural, as, it has also been observed in wild dogs. This type of Pica does not cause many problems. In fact, it is considered as a normal dog behavior by the most number of vets. In some surveys, it is found that grass is most commonly eaten the plant. It might be a condition when your dog is not feeling well so start eating grass which makes them vomit and feel better. It can be a reason also, to fulfill an unmet nutritional need they started eating grass. It also includes the need for fiber.

If you suspect that your buddy is bored and eating grass. Engage him in other activities. Make sure he is getting enough exercise. Try playing games with him, take him for a walk. Or, buy a chewing toy for him to keep him busy.

On the other hand, if your dog's Pica behavior is because of any nutritional deficiency, switch to better food for your dog. Especially, some high fiber variety.
